About Us


Waste Aware Scotland was set up in 2000 with the remit of changing public attitudes and behaviour towards Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.


wasteawarescotland logo Waste Aware Scotland develops campaigning strategies to promote waste reduction, reuse and recycling behaviours at both national and local levels. The campaigns are designed to correspond to real infrastructure, such as kerbside recycling services, so that the public have the means to get involved.

Waste Aware Scotland is also working to support the waste reduction and recycling targets set out by the Scottish Government as part of their commitment to a Zero Waste Scotland.

Campaign guidelines and resources can be obtained from the Resources and Publications section of the website. The Waste Aware Scotland programme provides an opportunity to achieve consistency of approach and terminology in waste awareness throughout Scotland.

The Waste Aware Scotland programme has been endorsed by the Scottish Government, Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (CoSLA).
